On April 24th, school staff and health professionals dedicated to making schools a healthier place for children will travel many miles to come together at the 5th Annual Healthy Schools Summit at the Ramada Plaza Hotel in Fargo. Attendees enjoy this FREE summit as it gives them great opportunities to learn new strategies helping to increase student physical activity and provide healthier food choices within schools.
Multiple keynotes by Dr. David Katz, a recognized thought leader in nutrition, chronic disease prevention/health promotion, weight management and integrative medicine, plus breakout sessions with local experts will fill the day’s schedule.
Katz speaks routinely at conferences and meetings throughout the U.S. and the world speaking in at least seven countries. At the Summit his topics include: “Feet, Forks and Fingers,” “What Diet is Best for Health,” and “School Wellness Policy Implementation Discussion.”
Breakout sessions will focus on School Food Service, Physical Activity and Leadership. The summit will round out the day with three minute health pitch sessions covering a variety of programs across the state.
Reducing health-risk behaviors among young people is a complex effort that requires cooperation and collaboration among many partners at the state, regional and local levels. This is why South East Education Cooperative’s Healthy Schools Program, PartnerSHIP 4 Health and CassClayalive! worked together to create a FREE Healthy Schools Summit. The Summit is in its ? year and has grown each year reaching more and more health professionals in North Dakota, Minnesota and South Dakota.
The Healthy School Summit has no registration fee, but limited seating is available. Registration is open to principals, administrators, food service staff, concession organizers, school board members, teachers and parents!
